Rebels Destroy Broncos and Move to 2-0

The Victoria Rebels are proving to be an offensive powerhouse early in the season following their second consecutive landslide victory over the Kamloops Broncos on Saturday night.

The Rebels were lead by running back Sam Adu who rushed for 3 touchdowns including a blistering 82 yard dash that gave the team a 14-7 lead they would not look back on.

Victoria scored 28 points in the second quarter including two interceptions returned for touchdowns by linebacker Wade Buckley. With a commanding 42-7 lead going into halftime, Victoria took their foot off the gas in the second half, only scoring on two Quinn Van Gylswyk field goals and minimizing the Broncos comeback in an eventual 48-23 victory.

Rebel's quarterback Yannick Rickli was solid when he had to be, completing 8 of 18 passes for 115 and a touchdown. More importantly Rickli avoiding throwing any interceptions, which was a major improvement following a four interception game against Okanagan in the season opener.

Victoria will now move on to face Chilliwack and South Surrey for their next two games before returning home to face Vancouver Island on August 29.
