Seals Return Home For Upcoming Homestand

The Victoria Seals have returned from yet another Alberta road trip in which they went 2-4 against the Calgary Vipers and the Edmonton Capitals.

Victoria still remains at the bottom of the GBL North Division at 13-21, but have proven they are capable of beating high caliber teams. This was evident when the Seals played their last home game on Father's Day two Sundays ago and trailed the Edmonton Capitals 2-0 going into the bottom of the 9th, before 2 RBI singles set the page for a storybook finish, as Seals outfielder Jamar Hill cranked a walk-off grand slam just months after the death of his father.

Over 3,500 fans packed into Royal Athletic Park for the Father's Day game and Seals brass believes that numbers will continue increase for the upcoming nine game home stand, as festivities will include fireworks following Tuesday's game and Canada Day celebrations following a matinee game on Wednesday.

Victoria will first take on Tucson on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday and although the Seals still remain at the bottom of the North Division, they can take solace in that both South Division teams Tucson and Yuma have weaker records. Following Tucson, Victoria will once again play host to the Edmonton Capitals this weekend, before finishing the home stand with a three game set against Yuma next week.

Despite their record, Victoria still has much to pleased with to this point in the season, as four starters currently have averages above .300 and sluggers such as Jamar Hill with 5 home runs and 23 RBI and Carlos Duncan with 6 home runs in only 79 at bats are displaying their power in the middle of the Seals lineup. Victoria pitching has been mediocre at points, but the team has seemed to have found their ace, as Isaac Hess is 5-0 to this point in the season allowing only 16 runs in nearly 52 innings of work.

However, if the Seals are to gain ground in the GBL's North Division this home stand will be a critical point for them to do so.
