Seals Lick Thier Wounds from Vipers as They Ready for Home Opener

The Victoria Seals are definitely ready to return to Victoria after a tough three game series in Calgary earlier this week. The Seals ran into a Vipers squad with a very hot set of bats who blasted Seals pitching for 40 runs over three games.

Following a 13-3 loss that was called because of rain after five innings in the opening game on Monday, the Seals stuck tight with the Vipers for seven innings in game two, only to allow four runs in the bottom of the eighth to give Calgary a 9-6 win.

Calgary then came out firing on cylinders in the final game on Wednesday, jumping out to a 13-0 lead after four innings leading to an eventual 18-7 win. Seal's short stop Bret LeVier went 2 for 5 with 2 RBI in to lead Victoria in the loss.

Despite the sweep Victoria did have some good come of the series, as they now realize the strength of their opposition if they want to remain in contention in the GBL's North Division.

The Seals record is now 1-6 following their first two series of the season against Calgary and Edmonton, as they return to Victoria for their first home-stand starting against Long Beach at Royal Athletic Park on Friday.
