Highlanders Stay Undefeated and Ready for Home Opener

The Victoria Highlanders FC are now three weeks and four games old and are yet to lose a match. Following a tie in Portland on May 9th, the Highlanders returned to BC to take on Abbotsford on Saturday and earned a hard fought point in a 2-2 draw.

This game was the toughest test yet for the Highlanders as the Mariners came strong and scored two goals in the first 10 minutes of the match.

The game remained 2-0 through to half-time, as Coach Colin Miller was forced to rally his troops and hope for a comeback in the second half. Miller soon had his wish granted, as Jason Devenish scored to make it 2-1, followed by the equalizer from forward Steve Scott in the 86th minute.

Victoria's tie leaves them in 4th spot in the Northwest division, one point back of the three way tie for first place between Kitsap, Portland and Seattle.

The Highlanders will now finally return to Victoria to play their first game at the brand new City Centre Stadium this Saturday as they play the back end of a home and home with Abbotsford.
